Qi Gong for Every Season
I love Qi Gong.
I love the fact that there are special movement for each season of the year (including the fifth season of Harvest). I love that there are specific animals that we draw movement from for each season. I love that it focuses on specific parts of the body during each season that might need special attention due to the weather. And I love that it draws from the elements so that we are constantly reminded in our moving meditation that we are nature.
During COVID, when I felt very disconnected from nature and the world, I offered 2 Qi Gong 6 week series and 2 Workshops, which are now available on demand. Each one offers a brief talk about our focus for the season, a warm up and a seasonal flow (series of movements that are strung together to make a routine).
You will learn the fundamental movements, breathing techniques, and short mediations that will introduce the practice, science, and philosophy of Qi Gong.
These classes include appropriate Qi Gong flow movement series for balancing states of energy, regulating body organs according to universal elements, and short educational discussions about philosophy and origin of practices for the seasons.
Besides all the health benefits of Qi Gong, like joint mobility, assisting with chronic pain and sleep irregularities, lower blood pressure, and improving digestion, Qi Gong always feel so accessible to me. It is not about doing the movements perfectly “right” or having to do them in a specific order. It is about finding your flow, connecting to your body, and noticing which movements feel good to you.
These on demand workshops and series a great introduction to Qi Gong if you are new to it, or a wonderful way to enhance a practice you have already cultivated.
I feel honored to share them with you.
