Collective Wellbeing

Collective Health: Your wellbeing is linked to the wellbeing of others

When two heart cells from tow individuals beat in separate spaces, they have their own distinct rhythm.  But when you put those same two heart cells together in the same space, they eventually share their rhythm and support each others life force and heart song.  In short, our hearts beat together in community.

Your wellbeing is directly linked to the overall wellbeing of others.

I won’t be getting into the biology of all this in this particular blog; we will explore the science behind it another time.  However, I think there is power in this truth from the perspective of the link between Healing Motion and Legacy Motion.

You can find the whole story and journey of Legacy Motion here.  But what I want to bring forward in this space right now is the role that you, and Healing Motion play together towards collective wellbeing.

What is collective wellbeing?  There are lots of different ways to define this term.  I prefer using this term to acknowledge all aspects of the holistic self and community; mental, emotional, physical, and organizational.  Some people ask, what do you mean by organizational wellbeing?  Here I am talking about systems change and social justice.  Is the organization well for everyone to have equity and be supported by the system in a just way? And yes, this is collective as well.

So how can your wellbeing possibility be linked to that of others on all these levels, and how does Healing Motion reiterate this?  When we are able to take care of ourselves, we are then able to hold space for others and see the trees for the forest so to speak.  By taking a personal step back, and investing in our own holistic existence, we might then be able to put our toe in the water to begin to create ripples across the pond of the world to be the change we wish to nurture for the wellbeing of all.

Healing Motion encourages this in two profound ways:

  1. By offering you opportunities to find a personal practice of self care and mind/body awareness to assist in your overall physical, emotional, and mental health by taking one of my many online or in person courses or private sessions.

  2. Donating 25% of Healing Motion’s income to Legacy Motion so that individuals and communities being impacted by trauma in places with little or no mental healthcare can benefit from accessibility to somatic therapy, yoga, dance, embodied and restorative movement based practices.

Your choice to take care of yourself by taking a class or having a personal session with me directly impacts humans across the globe everyday.  If this is not collective wellbeing, then I don’t know what is!
